Default manual tranny for a '94 2500

So, as I'm working on my TODD build I wonder how much and how available a manual tranny would be to swap in for the auto that is in the 2500 and how much woudl it be? Sad thing is the auto has only about 1200 miles on the rebuild it got.

For some reason I want a manual...wait, I know the reason....because I love manuals!

From what I understand you would probably want a donor truck so you can get all the parts needed like clutch pedal, brake pedal, bell housing, etc. You can buy the NV4500 for $1000 to $2000. If you really wanted to get fancy you could throw a 13 speed in it! That would give you a bit more gears to row through!

thanks for the info...I've heard the good manuals are hard to get for these bad boys and donor trucks are difficult to find? New to the trucks that aren't 50+ years old so any help on this potential is appreciated.

Looking at the NV44500, more for "light duty" it says...for the 6bt does that make sense for something I'd maybe want to haul a 7 ton trailer with? What other options are there out there?

If you replace the bell housing you can put just about any transmission you want in it. Take a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...+with+10+speed This gives you an idea as to what you can do. You may wind up at a wrecking yard or two to find all the parts and pieces you need to put a manual transmission in.

I've gotten creative while doing my restoration!

A $20 goes a long way to the yard rats.

while building FEF, my restoration, I was always hitting up French Lake where you can't drive in, and if I had a big pile of stuff for FEF, or TODD (current streetrod project), wait for the yard rat to cruise by, wave a Jackson and suddenly my pile of parts ends up by the front door ready to be loaded!
