Been a long time since I have been in Manitowoc. I used to haul crane parts from the plant there about 30+ years ago. I know what you mean far as cold. It got all the way up to -5* for a high here and prediction is for -18* tonight. -13* as I type this....

Small world. My uncle use to get loads from Manitowoc Cranes on and off till he retired. He drove Freightshaker cab overs and later Kenworth's. All with Cummins engines.

Finally got it covered. I am happy with how it turned out. I made an arm rest cushion with some dense foam. The arm rest bolts to the console. I welded two bolts to a piece of steel so they don't spin when tightening. I used staples to fasten the fabric and I still have a little gluing to do on the corners. Plan to cut out the steel panel tomorrow and paint it.

I am still thinking about how I want to wire everything. I have ideas just haven't picked one yet. I have a cubby hole switch for the high idle fooler and want to install this in the console. I PM'd Ed(Yankneck696) about it and he said to see if reaches first and do some cutting of the faceplate to mount on the panel. Today I removed the switch from the dash and it looks like it's too short. Probably cut and solder in a section.

Another thing while I am under the dash I have wanted to wire in a switch to the clutch safety switch. Does it matter which wire I cut and run to a switch?

Looking good! What brand of radio is that? The paint job doesn't look familiar.... Far as which wire for the clutch switch it wouldn't make any difference. All you are going to do is wire in a switch so that it won't start when you want, correct?

Yes it is so the truck will not start. I want to hide a switch and this is the perfect time to wire one. The radio is a Galaxy DX 959 and it has a vinyl wrap with lightning on it. It has been peaked and tuned by a shop near Madison. Good radio, but I had to buy a power mic for it early on. Came through kind of quiet I was told.

That sounds like a decent radio. SSB? I had a good SSB with a K-40 power mic on it but it got stolen many years ago. I have Uniden Pro 510XL that needed a resister cut to make it talk much better. I have that on a K-40 magnetic antenna so it woks OK.
Yep, this is the best time to put a switch in. You could hide it in plain sight and it will still secure the truck due to someone that doesn't know the truck won't have a clue you have a switch for the starter.

I have had a few Cobra's before the Galaxy, never had a Uniden. I have 2 - 5ft Stainless antennas currently on the headache rack. That was the set that gave me the best SWR. The radio does have SSB, but I never use it. Stays on 19 most of the time.
Made the panel and painted it today. I have all the holes cut and drilled out for the switch's I plan to install at this time. I used wood inserts and #8 x 1/2" screws to fasten the panel on. I bought paint from Geno's garage to paint the triple pillar pod and used that to paint the steel. My friend came over today to change his oil and fuel filters in his '06 CTD after that went out to eat and called it a day.

Must be a bit warmer there if you were able to change oil! The high here today was -5*.....
Looking good though on the new console!

http://http://www.dieseltrucksite.co...harbor+freight Thank you for the suggestion, went and read the thread for the rules. This should be all I need is the link to the thread right?

It was only 6 outside yesterday, He brought the truck over so he could work in the garage. The garage is heated with a natural gas heater. It took a couple hours to warm it up yesterday.
