Don't know anyone with the v10, but there was one 94 listed in Fuelly and he got 7.5 towing with 12 highway.
I see why he wants to trade.

But with the transmission problems you had........ My '96 auto gets a consistent 20 mpg and had a high of 23+. Had you been able to get the transmission figured out things would be a bit different.

True, but my 2500 24v 6 speed barely cracked the teens.

Either way, it don't matter what the old trucks got. From what I understand the V-10 gets low teens no matter what. Around here gas is a bit cheaper than diesel by 30 cents you may spend about the same amount as you would with a diesel that gets 16 mpg.

Well I normally get 16 to 17 locally and cross country, empty, on cruise @ 70 mph, I normally get between 18.5 to 20.5.
But she's basically stock and a constant speed.

So, why are you going to pass on the V10? As far as an affordable Cummins..... Good luck with that. From the prices I have seen......Holy Crap!! The numbers are completely NUTS! I have seen first gens with an asking price of $9,000!
