Welcome! Glad to have you here!! Now, far as your question, from what I have learned, it can be done, but it really is a challenge. You would need to either put a different transmission in it or try to find an adapter plate because they won't bolt up. You would need to put an ECM in it and try to wire it up to make everything work, and IF you are in a place that has emissions testing you would have a problem. My understanding is that you would need to make it comply with the laws for the year truck you have. I don't know if it would be worth the expense and trouble.

But if the vehicle came with a 6.0 and you swapped it for a 7.3, isn't that considered something different that stock, rebuild or such and could fall under an emission test ?

My area has no emissions testing what's so ever, so there's no stipulations to be concerned about. You can change engine, trans, anything, and nothing is tested. That's why I like it here.

It not that hard if you have a parts truck I did a 99 f250 and pUT an 05 cab on you will have to change everything. The wiring is all different yes even the dome light. I swapped the dash and it was pretty much plug and play all I can say iS take your time
