Default 180 vs 190 Thermostat

True or False ?
I have read on other forums that my 1998.5 Ram/Cummins oem thermostat was 180* but runs and gives better fuel mileage with a 190*. The claims are that the 190* is hotter and will intensify the burning of diesel fuel. My truck runs okay but if my fuel mileage will increase by upgrading the thermostat, I am all for it. Comments please.

Yep. True story. Diesels love heat and the warmer they are the better they burn the fuel. The ECM on the 24 valve engines adjust things like timing for a better burn. Ask Mopar1973man about his results.
