Default Guages Don't Work, GMC Duramax

The gauges in my truck don't work, is there any easy fix that I can do for it?

Which gauges? The factory ones in the dash or aftermarket? They don't work at all or are they intermittent?

The factory in dash gauges. It is the tach and the speedometer are the ones that don't work. They move sometimes, but not very often. I use a GPS for a speedometer.

OK, I would try pulling the cluster out and check to see if there are any loose plugs where the harness plugs into the printed circuit board. Also pull the plugs and make sure that you don't have any corrosion anywhere.

I have pulled the cluster and checked all the connections. I think the motors for the tach and speedometer are broken. Anyone know where I can get these?

Maybe you would be better off going to a junk yard and finding another cluster?

Thanks for the input. I will go look at the junk yard and see what I can find.

The only thing I wonder about is the odometer. Do you know if it can be put in another cluster?

I am not sure about the odometer. I was thinking that there may be a motor or 2 in the cluster that I can replace. That way I don't have to worry about the odometer.

That would be good if you could just swap a couple of parts. If you can, get lots of pictures! You might be able to help someone else.
