Default Why I sold my smarty

Well my SMARTY is officially sold. That $450 box did some real fun damage to my truck. It helped to great so much cylinder pressure that I cracked all 6 pistons and blew out my headgasket. Im glad the head gasket went otherwise things coulda been worse had I not pulled the head off to inspect why my cooling system was pressurized. I will snap some pictures of the carnage tonight. Truck is getting tooted off for surgery as of the weekend. Going to put an Cummins SO engine back into the truck with some 110lb valve springs and some billet pushrods along with my oringed, ported, polished head.

I would only recommend the stack with the smarty used on mild. Also if you have bigger power adders (i.e. injectors) I wouldn't recommend it at all. I babied the truck during the run of the SMARTY but it obviously had done its damage. Just want to use firsthand knowledge to forewarn other folks. Also note I was not running the timing tune on the smarty (I aint no spring chicken).

Pictures of the carnage will follow tonight.

Head Gasket Blowout at the back of #6

The head looked good thankfully, especially since all the head work was done 2k ago.

Man, that is tough luck. I dunno, it looks to me like your injectors were kind of "missing their mark". Piston #5 has some serious melting on it...

Tom that is just oil and residue. I ran a rag over it for the pictures so i could see the cracks.

Well my "poor truck" is getting a revamp to be an easy 600hp truck. Found a SO long block and also a SO VP44 Pump and a HRVP 44 Pump. Just determining which way that will go. Also having billet pushrods custom built for it. The will get the head checked out and put in 110lb valve springs. Probably a fluid damper after all this also.

Truck will be headed to Chris's place in a week or so...

From what I have read the SO VP would be a better pump than the HO for making power. Sounds like you have a pretty good plan for your build!
