yeah he figured it was junk but he never tried barring it over. Just assumed since the key didnt crank it that it blew and he said it had a horrible sounding idle when he walked away from it which I assumed was just a 3 cyl high idle.

Has anyone figured out WTH this thing does? I was going over the wiring on stuff and saw this piece of crap. I don't even think I wired it into my truck when I rewired it and wonder if it did serve a purpose. Tom or someone with a 12V could pull the relay and let me know what happens. The wiring just shows that the key in run/start powers one side of the coil and the other side goes to the PCM, so I assume the PCM is the coils "ground". The relay switches and sends power to another point on the PCM. I have no clue what it does. I googled and googled and found something that mentioned it powers the PCM, but it wasn't on a dodge so I'm still not sure. But I had a few things that didn't work after I got done and I wonder if that was it. Seems the PCM has different segments that are independent from each other. For instance, all my gauges except the WTS, WIF, RPM, and engine temp work, so the PCM is halfway working. Just not sure what this stupid ASD relay does.

When I get the chance I will pull it to see what happens. It might take me a couple of days to get the chance though. We have a snow storm on the way and I need to get some sleep so it will be here before I get up again. Working 10 hour nights six nights a week kinda screws up your schedule........

Oh ok. Just wondered if you forgot or not. I haven't even seen my truck in that long. Jeep is too much fun in the snow.

Well, the temperature did get above 30*! It went all the way to 31*!! Anyhow, I started my truck (first time in two months), and then pulled the ASD relay and guess what........... NOTHING happened...... I shut the truck down and it restarted just like normal, ran down the road just like normal, gauges showed normal, and all the lights worked. The only thing that I could not test was the A/C. So, for my truck the ASD doesn't seem to do anything. Anybody else want to try to find out if it does anything on our trucks?

I am pretty sure I ditched mine and the only things that don't work on mine are obvious, so if you didn't notice anything then it must be there for looks. I traced it out just now and the positive gets power all the time in on/start but the ground goes to the PCM, so the PCM must activate it. But when it activates it just sends a signal to the PCM on a terminal labeled ASD relay sensor. I wonder if you could short a ground to it to turn it on, not sure if the PCM is always sending it ground or what. But I'm gonna say its for looks lol. Thanks for the help Tom!
