When I get ready to do my brakes here in the next couple of days I'll weight them out and tell ya... They don't seem much heavier than the old stock aluminum rim (16x8) and the Big O AT 235/85 R16... But the scale will tell all...

What place did you find to mount trailer tires on a truck? Trailer tires may be able to handle the load, but trailers handle loads differently than trucks, and they aren't made the same

Doesn't anyone think outside the box? I was told the same thing when it came to 2 cycle oil in diesel fuel that diesel injection system were not designed to pump 2 cycle oil blah blah blah...

Now trailer tire in my mind take MUCH more abuse that road radials. Like take my Jayco Eagle travel trailer and do a U turn. The rear axle is literially pulling the tire on the beads. It pulling so hard that it leaves rub marks on asphalt. I know you now suppose to do this but in some tight parking lots and fuel stations you got no choice. My Jayco weighs in at close to 8K pounds with a load range D..



Now take a really beefy trailer tire and keep it to light duty it should be all fine. Tire is rated for 3750# and I've only got 4420# front axle and 3040# on the rear axle which gives 2210# 58% of the tire ablitiy then 1520# on the rear 40% of the tire ability... So I'm not even stressing these tire at all.

So if there is a problem with putting trailer tires on a truck then there must be a problem with putting truck tires on my trailer. My 8x8 has 31x10.50 R15 load range C LT tires for the last 12 years...

The other factor is Load Range G (3750# @ 110 PSI) tire where $680 bucks for a set of 4 and Load Range E (3042# at 80 PSI) the exact tire I had was $976 bucks for set of 4... Then throw in the the 4 new rims for $440 bucks... Which would you pick?

My pockets are NOT deep...

I totally understand where you are coming from on that, and yes the trailer tires do take much more abuse, we all know that but the main reason for not putting trailer tires on a truck is handling, as the trailer tires are belted different,have you noticed a difference? Other than the ride?

So far I'm still really please with the performance of tire... Doing great on flood highways after a rain. These tires are real rock throwers though if you travel a gravel road and then hit the highway small stones are flying everywhere. So far no ill effect on MPG's still floating around 20-22 MPG...
