Default Valair DD Towing Clutch Reviews?

Is Anyone running a Double disk sprung hub organic towing clutch? I have one in my 2002 6 speed with the Bosch VP44 and it is more jumpy on the engagement and down shifts than I think it should be. The salesman told me when I ordered it, that it would be as smooth as a stock clutch. After break in and still no improvement, I called ValAir for help and they corrected that statement to "It is as close to a stock clutch as a performance clutch can get". He told me to drive it some more to see if it will break in better. Also, I'm the first guy to call in and complain about this clutch so far.

My wife hates it now and she is the primary driver of the truck. I think it is as bad as a single ceramic for engagement. Just looking for input or first hand experience with this new product.

Also it was installed properly to the instructions and was this jumpy from the start as soon as I backed it out of the shop. There is 1500 miles on it now and not getting any better. It also has the new HD hydraulics installed at the same time.

Any advice appreciated.

I love when I hear "We've never heard of that". Something strange is going on. Have you called and asked to talk to Dan?

Hooked the trailer to it and hauled the pullin truck Friday nite. Its not any better but also not any worse mannered. Also have another issue. The directions on the HD Hyd say to adjust the link rod under the dash that is provided in the kit to 2-3 inches start engagement from the floor. I have had to readjust this 3 times and I am now out of travel on the rod.

Chris have you had any problems like this?

Well I was able to explain my problem to Gary Wolf at ValAir and he sent out a complete warranty kit to avoid down time. He said they have never had a problem yet, but believed I had some issues with this one. Sunday I swapped in the replacement myself and it works very nice now. No visable signs of a problem with the old one, but maybe in the pressure plate setup. My wife is very happy now with her new clutch!

That is what I have heard about Valair and their customer service. I am glad you got your clutch issue figured out!
