Default Bad Fuel

last week my brother in law got a tank of bad fuel (lots of dirty water), in his Ford Powerstroke, when he fueled up at a truck stop in ND. He had to have the fuel tank removed and drained. Is this at all common?

Hopefully not too common, but with the common rail engines even a little water is a problem. Did your BIL get a receipt when he got fuel? If he can prove that is where he got the bad fuel the station should pay for it. The water is real hard on the injectors.... Was the place he got fuel a place that doesn't sell much fuel?

Huh usually truck stops are the place to go because they have a big turn over in fuel supply.

No it was a big truck stop. I don't know if he has the receipt. There should be a plug on the bottom of the tank. Quite a bit of work to remove the tank.

Yea, it is a pretty big job. Hopefully there was no permanent damage.

It's easy...

1. Get a half rack of beer.
2. Get your friend to come over and help you drink beer.
3. Put a camera in one hand and beer in the other and have your friend drop the tank so you can document how its done.

This is a Dodge Truck here but the principal should be the same...
