Does anyone got pics of all this stuff? Especially that proportioning valve thing. After reading the first post, I have the same issue and the same dangerous scenarios with the back end locking up, truck going sideways, cept I was on a narrow 2 lane with semi trucks in the other lane and a steep drop off after the shoulder and here I am doing 60mph sideways. Hard to get control back with something like that so I would like to get to know these damn brakes. For now I just backed the adjustment for the drums wayyy down so that they are as crappy as the front brakes.

OK, Got a couple of pictures. The first one is the proportioning valve on my truck.

The next one is another view of the same valve:

Will have another couple soon

This one is the RWAL valve on my truck:

This is a view showing the position of the master cylinder, proportioning valve, and the RWAL valve.

Hmmm... Maybe I should tear into Mom's 96 and fix the rear anti-lock on it... It never worked as long as I known.

The anti lock on mine quit last spring. The way the brakes are I an somewhat concerned about when the slippery roads get here. I would really like to get my front ones working better. Another thing I have noticed is the pedal feels more firm and higher when it is cooler. The warmer it gets the crappier my pedal feels. I know that doesn't make sense, but that is the way it feels.

I just spent another couple of hours bleeding the front brakes again. I am STILL getting air bubbles out of them. For the amount of air I have seen come out of the brakes they should not have even worked. I can't for the life of me figure out where all the air is trapped. I went through another quart of brake fluid bleeding the right side and a half quart through the left. The brakes feel slightly better, but no where like they should. I am stumped......

Did that finally... I tore into her truck and fought to pull a drum off. You know the trick where you put the truck on jack stands and the axle roll slam on the brakes. Well I had a _____ of a time getting the rwal to lock up, so I can free the passenger side drum then relized the ABS was working it was preventing me for locking the rear axle.

So I got smart, parking brake got it.

As for you Tom... If the brake system was getting air into it then every time you apply the brakes you should have a leak. So now thinking a bit hard is there a piece line that has a high/low spot in it. Something that might trap air? Bleed fitting are at thie top right? (I know its a dumb question)
