Default hello from sunny California

seems to be a lot of good info on this forum so i thought i would jump in. part of the reason is that my '97 XCLB just got KDP'd on 7-15-11. so, i've been looking for info on pricing and what needs to be done. thanks in advance.

Welcome, Glad to have you here! Are you handy with tools? If so you can do your KDP in about 2 1/2 hours yourself. I am at work right now, but when I get home I will elaborate.

Finally had the chance to sit at a computer and give you more info. All you need to do is pull the fan and radiator shroud, unbolt anything in the way of the timing cover, unbolt the cover, tab the pin, put in a new crank seal, and reassemble..... It is a little more than that, but that is the gist of it. Like I said, it is about 2 1/2 hours start to finish with only hand tools. When you want more detailed info let me know.

Your truck got KDP'd, well like MNTom said, the front of the vehicle needs to come off, You may need a new timing case, cam gear, etc. depending what got hit with the pin. The only way to find out what you need, is to take it apart. Once you do this, we can help with finding parts and posts for you.

I guess I shold have read your post better. I thought you were wanting to kill the dowel pin. The first thing to do is pull the timing cover and see what the damage is. Like Stodg sid, the front of the truck needs to be removed to pull the cam out.
