Default "Maybe I Should Have Got a Cummings" Expensive Mistake

This is one of those "I'll never do something like that" threads. Well we all make mistakes, but this is one VERY expensive one.......
EXPENSIVE MISTAKE

It comes down to ignorant people who don't understand innovation. How many people still say "oil is oil"... That might have been true 75 years ago when things weren't as tight as today, as long as the oil was liquid it was going to get into all the nooks and crannies. Now that tolerances are extremely tight, we have to accomodate for it. If you don't like it, you can go back to the old days where things were inefficient yet simple yet costly in today's world. I do think these new technologies need to be taught to buyers before walking out. In the old days people didn't even get to play with this stuff unless you were a "professional" and had big bucks. 10 years ago you had 14V cordless drills that couldn't power through a 1/2" bit and now people can easily and cheaply get 24V drills that will tear your arm off. People have evolved and got used to the technology. There was no evolution to this DEF crap, it was either you instantly evolve or you screw the truck up. Because of this, when someone buys a truck, they should take them in a room and show a video showing how the DEF crap works and how the engine is so precise and controlled that nothing but diesel should go in there.

But, people put gas in diesels everyday, clearly marked pumps even. I can understand if you were just having a bad stressful day, talking to your gf who was mad at you for not buying a ring she won't care about a day later, had your football team lose the night before, had a hangover from trying to get so drunk to erase the thought of knowing your team lost, and hit the neighbors dog this morning after an attempt at evading him and taking our your hand made log house lookalike mailbox. BUT, the people that see what they did, know what they did, and say ehhhhh maybe if I put some tar in it at a ratio of 400:1, it will thicken it to the consistency of diesel and convert the octane into cetane, and then try and drive it, even after the engine starts to knock and ping and grind...yes those people shouldn't be on the road. Then theres the people who will continue to drive as the former people will, but they think the solution to an engine acting badly or noisily is to fight fire with fire by flooring it and saying "thats right, I did the same thing to my mother in laws cadillac when she went into surgery", and then after the connecting rod blows a hole in the side of they block, they go out and stare at it through the fender well, continuing to wonder and try and remember if it was normal operation or if there is actually something wrong with the engine, despite the ball peen banging and oil puking everywhere and smoke billowing out the vents. This is about the time they decide to breath in some of the smoke and see if they can get high on it. Of course, "these people will breed".
