Cool Fuel injectors. Can you clean up the old ones and re-use

Hello My name is Gutter I am a former U.S. Marine Sgt completed 10 yrs of service. Lets just say I have a government job now. I also have a Farm that I manage. I need your help. I have a 1998 Dodge 3500 Cummins Turbo Diesel 24 valve 4X4 5-speed manual Trans. I am Changing the Fuel Injectors. I bought three and now I have noticed that the other 3 are not looking to good at all. I was wondering if you can clean up the old injectors and re-use them??? just as a temporary fix till I get more money to by three more new ones. ?????

Thank you for that information it was very helpful. I have another question??? there seems to be some confusion on the torx specs for the bolts that hold the injector covers down. One guy on another site said 44lbs and that must be wrong because I snapped a bolt. lucky for me I was able to get it out without taping it. any help on this would be great! Thanks again

The torque spec is 89 in.lbs. or 10 Nm.

The 44 ft lbs is for the 12 valve injectors.

Hopefully, this helps.

Thank you again but I am still a bit confused... I just want to clarify that there is a metal cover that goes over the top of each injector... the cover comes of by sliding it out after removing one bolt from each cover leaving the other bolt in place. After installing the new injector you slide the cover back in place over the top of the injector. you then put the bolt back on. one guy says 44lbs of tork and one of the bolts snapped off! obviously 44lbs is to much. So then you say its 89 lbs for the 24 valve. how can that be when the bolt snapped off before i even got close to 44 lbs.... ??? I am confused... :/

Is this what you are looking for? The torque spec is not much for this.

The torque spec is 89 inch pounds, 10 Neuton meters, or about 7.5 ft lbs(not sure about this one).

The torque spec is 7.4ft lbs or 89 in lbs or 10 Nm.

I found an online calculator and did the conversion.

The 44 ft lbs torque spec is for the 12 valve engine, not the 24 valve.
