Just saw this on CF. He says it is supposed to be like that. I am questioning how long it was on, if that was just one element, etc. I gotta find out how he made it glow like that. I think he just ran one element for a long time, I ran 2 and since the wires splice into one wire that they have to share, I can see why 1 element having all the power to itself would be able to glow like that, but I will see what he says.

He said that was the second 30 second run with both on. He said the flash made it look a little more awe inspiring than it really was. I still think I am going to ohm mine out and see if I can make it better. Mine won't glow at ALL until a minute goes by.

Funny, I don't see any evidence of a flash. A longer exposure would make it look brighter.

I ohmed them out and got 0.3 ohms. Pretty tedious since if they are rated at 95 amps, they need to have 0.12 ohms. At 0.3 when I had both on that battery was around 9.2 which is only 30.6 amps. Thats just under 1/3 of what they are supposed to be. I am going to take them out and polish them up to see if I can't get a better connection between them, figure they are just a little old. I will get pics!

OK, say you were able to maintain a 12 volt supply (2 or more batteries). Wouldn't the draw be higher? Do you have an amp meter that can measure DC voltage? That would be the ideal way to measure the actual draw.

It would be 40 amps at 12 volts if it were 0.3 ohms. I can't measure that many amps but I can calculate it out using other things I can measure. If I can get it to 0.12ohms and it remains at 9.2V that bumps it up to 76.6 amps, which might make them glow lol.
