Actually once the engine stop so does the oil flow. But depending on where you mount the filter head will determine if the line drain out..

Oil still looks pretty clean after 600 miles I am still very pleased with the results. Heres a pick of the amsoil swivel.

As for the AMSOil Swivel you might take it apart and get a few O-rings for it. After awhile they start to leak some then it tends to pool up and run over on the valve cover... The O-ring should be just tight enough that a little resistance should be felt while twisting..

How often do you have to change the bypass filter? I like it.

With these you can just take the return hose off....

Or I like a bulkhead fitting better:

Then use this on the hose:

There is a second drain line hole for the turbo down on the passenger side that you could hook up too.

I change both filters every 10,000 oil every 20,000.

Thanks

Merf 09,

Just wanted to say thank you for this write up. I had been tossing around the idea to do this and missed out on a brand new Frantz TP filter on the cheap side from ebay. So that got me to looking into other possibilites and I think I am sold on this plan. Did you get that braket from a local hardware store? I think I might just have room right in the same spot as I am running a compound turbo set up. I am running some DDP 200's right now and figured I could not go wrong with a bypass to try and clean up the oil as much as possible.
