That is a respectable mileage figure! At 55 mph with mine I get about 14 mpg, but at 65 mpg I get about 12 mpg and at 70 mph I get about 10 mpg with all four of us in the truck with the trailer full of water.

Oh yea. You are just about right on the money! I have found that it is not the weight that cuts mileage, it is the size (wind resistance) that hurts mileage more. Use your wood hauling trailer as an example. The weight may be the same as your camper, but the camper pulls harder.

I found out that I need a bigger propane tank. Towing it will last about 1/2 of a tank of diesel. HOWEVER, I did somehow manage to get 18 MPG the first tankfull towing my camper at 60 MPH!!! Part of that was runnung empty, but only a few miles. Pulling the hills with and without the propane is amazing. Even my daughter said it was like I dropped the trailer when I would turn the propane on to see the difference was!

No, I have not had the opportunity to figure out my empty mileage. Every time I expect to some reason comes up to not allow me to. Someday I will.

I just got my grubby little mitts on a bigger tank! It holds 28 gallons so maybe I will have enough to run a full tank of diesel with propane while towing! I just need to clean it up and change the mounting along with the outlet so that it will give vapor instead of liquid. I really want to see what the towing mileage is!

So do you have some place for easy access to fill the tank Tom, or do you fill it at home off a larger tank?

I have a supplier about a 1/2 mile from my house. Also any place that has a dispenser can fill it too. I don't think I would want to fill from home since the propane for my truck is 'motor fuel'. With the way things are I make sure that I have my latest receipt to prove that I payed the road tax on it.

Congrats on the new tank. I think that you will be impressed at the longer range that you have.
