Default NV 5600 oil

What does putting in extra oil in a NV 5600 do?

What type of oil can be used?

From what I understand, it is to help get oil back to the bearing for 6th gear I believe. Just basing this on what I have read. I personally use Penzoil synchro mesh from Auto Zone. $7 a quart I think, Might be $8, can't remember.

It is for better lubrication and also better cooling. I run amsoil syncromesh synthetic. I also run coolers so I am actually running 3 quarts extra.

I have coolers waiting on my next fluid change.
I have also read of folks using Limited slip aditive to the oil. Alot of them were having shifting issues and it seemed to help them alot. I have never tried it, mine shifts fine. But it would help the longevity of the transmission, I would give it a shot. I just dont know how the tranny likes it.

First off, I have the NV4500 (5 speed)... But I just load it normally to the fill hole then hold my thumb in front of the hole and squeeze in another 8 or so ounces of oil. So when I check my fluid I loosen the plug, tip it slightly and sample, then retighten. But I've used only the Mopar fluid for the life of my transmission, so far no 5th gear nut problems and no syncro problems either.
