Yep. The timing was so retarded that cold it would not go over about 1500 or so rpms and the white smoke would trail a hundred yards or so when it was real cold.

That's a wonderful idea Tom.

Not to hijack but I'm also working on a 12V now. It's stock timing for a 94 is 12.5 BTDC. So there is a bit if variance between the years.

You need to check the CPL number and then look here and get the correct number: http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/FAQ/timing.htm

I have been getting numbers from all different models and the OEM timing ranges from 12.5/13.5/14.

The 160's and 175's are 12.5*, the 180's are 14*, and the 215's are 13.5*.

And that would be the reason to check the CPL number.

Yeah I was just saying the stock data plate timing numbers between models as they aren't listed anywhere. He asked about them.

Seems they are all listed here: http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/FAQ/timing.htm

Then you'll have to point out where on that page it tells what the OEM timing is for each model.

It says this but that's only 2 CPL's out of 10 possible.

CPL 2022 engines should be stamped CPL 2174 and 14.0 deg BTDC
CPL 2023 engines should be stamped CPL 2175 and 13.5 deg BTDC

Oh and all of this is in response to when Mike said "It's stock timing for a 94 is 12.5 BTDC. So there is a bit if variance between the years." as I was replying to the variance of stock timing values.. I think your going off on the difference in cam lift.
