Does the key trick work on your truck? I seem to recall that some '98 model trucks it will work on and some it won't. I know it will not work on the '99s.

I dont remember what the key trick is. I think i remember something about it and i tried it and it didn't work but i dont remember for sure

Ok, I need to look up the stuff for the OBDII port, then get back to you for testing it.

The key trick is, insert the key in the igntion turn on, off, on, off, then leave on.

Make sure to have a peice of paper and a pen ready.

Then looking in the odometer window, watch for codes and if you see a P dOnE and an E dOnE, there are no codes stored in the computers.

Make sure to post up the codes when you get them.

So now you need to figure out why the OBD II port is not working.

You can use the diagram that Tom put up to see which ones are not working.

Using a DVM, see if you can use #11 for ground and #3 & 16 for 12 volt power. This must be done with the key on.
