You have the 47RE transmission in your truck. I am not sure if the transmission from an '03 will bolt in or not.

I believe it will bolt in, but the electrical part may be different. Since you use your truck to plow I would recommend you get a 'better than stock' tranny. About the best deal I have found is a Goerend transmission. I have one and it has been a great tranny. They also have one of the best warranties in the business. www.goerend.com

I thought it would be a 48 RE in a 01. IIRC, that's what my 01 had...

I was under the impression that the 47RE was used from 1996 to 2002 behind the Cummins and then it was the 48RE from 2003 to 2006 then the 68RE went behind the 6.7.

47RE until mid year 03, the first 03 third gens had a 47RE until the 03 HO came out with the 48RE mid year 03.

As far as what I understand about transmission bellhousing its should bolt right up. Dodge has been rather good about holding to a common standard of bolt patterns and keeping things universal.
