Default Water Methanol Injection

Well I decided to install a Water Methanol Injection Kit I was going to Propane but I'm still a little apprehensive about propane I know a couple of you have had the propane installed for a long time and I may do some propane in the future but for now it's Water Methanol injection.

Here we go I installed the smallest nozzle I could get DO 0.75 GPH.
So far I have noticed 100 degree drop in my EGT's and Gained 2.22 MPG.
Current setup: running -0 blue windshield washer fluid in the tank 50hp injectors, 50 hp tune with the original HX35 turbo I haven't had any detonation problems at full throttle so far so I'm happy.

Next week I going to up the nozzle size to DO 5 GPH and I'll report back.

Question is this a purchased kit or a homebrew kit? Could you list out the parts and what they cost by chance if its a home brew?

Might be fun to build one for my truck.

I priced building my own for around $200.
Here is a Link to a DIY with all the parts & links to the parts.

That is a good drop in EGTs. Have you noticed much of a seat of the pants power increrase? I noticed a decent power increase with my propane and a 5 mpg increase in mileage across the board. However, I did not notice any EGT change with or without propane, I have not had to worry about EGTs (much) the way mine is set up.

No seat of the pants difference Its has more gitty-up than I need it will pull 32,000 as fast as you dare to go but since I added the 50hp injectors under lite throttle the EGT's set at 1000 to 1100 degrees and I don't like that. Before the injectors I could run 120mph at 1000 degrees thats a high as I could get it to go. Now with the 50hp injectors once I hit 6th gear with the pedal on the floor my pyrometer gauge is flashing at me I have the limit set at 1250 degrees. So far I can only get the EGT's to 980 degrees with washer fluid in the tank it is 20% methanol & 80% water. I would like to see a 5 mph gain. Before low sulfer diesel my mileage was 24.9 mpg every week now best I can do is 20.8-21.10 without the a/c on with the a/c last tank was 18.88 mpg with the water/methanol I got 21.10 mpg with the a/c on so it's getting better mileage which I was looking for as well. I will try some 49% methanol 50 distilled water but that adds timing & my tuner adds timing & fuel so it's a tricking thing may have to detune a little to run 49% methanol. Also propane here in Texas is pricey because no one uses it for anything but grilling. When I lived in Iowa I could buy propane on contract for cheap but here in Texas the is no such thing.

I will keep ya'll posted on how the Water Methanol is doing.

Have a Great Evening!

That sure sounds good on the EGTs! You know, I wonder if the h2o is going to help keep the injectors just a little bit cleaner? If you have water in a cylinder it will not have any carbon or soot build up in it.

I saw some pictures online of intakes & heads that were clean like you had scrubbed them with solvent they had indicated the cleanliness of the heads & intake were from running methanol injection hope this is true. I may pull one of the injectors & have a little look. When the original injectors where pulled at 273,000 they didn't look bad at all they had a little bit of black soot on them but it just wiped right off.

Your cylinders will be clean. If you have a headgasket leaking into a cylinder it will be the cleanest one of all!

Update
I upped the nozzle to DO 5 GPH MPG 20.33 and the EGT's are still 100 less on a hard pull but I've noticed it stays real cool on the EGT's under normal driving after it spray's the washer fluid so another plus for water methanol injection example pulling overpasses it runs 600-650 on flat ground it will dive to 450-500 and when I park the EGT's come right on down to 315 with water methanol injection. Before the water methanol injection pulling overpasses 750-850-900 on flat ground 650-750 and when I park 430 so I always let it idol till it gets down to 350 before I turn it off.
I also upped to the DO 10 GPH and when the injection came on I had a knock & there was no white smoke coming out the tale pipe so I don't think it was quenching I think it was to much timing it sounded like a rod knocking so I'm back to the DO 5 and it's fine no knock. So I'm thinking this next week I will return to the stock tune & run the DO 10 and see what happens.
