Default I Got Brakes!!

I don't know how many of you remember my brake saga (low spongy pedal) (http://dieseltrucksite.com/showthread.php?t=459), but I FINALLY figured out what I needed to do. Why I didn't think of this sooner I don't know, but...... What I did this time was step on the brake pedal, use a piece of pipe and Vice Grips to clamp on the pipe so that it held the brake pedal down with the Grips against the steering wheel. I then went to the proportioning valve where there is another valve contained to allow some brake pressure to the rear brakes before the front brakes see any pressure, and held the pin on the valve open with another pair of Vice Grips. I then proceeded to use my homemade vacuum bleeder on both calipers. I now have a decent pedal again!! I can't believe it took me this long to fix it. Now all I need to do is straighten my steering wheel.....

You need to buy a 2002 Dodge much easier to bleed out and don't require any special tools to do it. Just hook up my mayo jar, crack the bleeder screw open, pump the pedal. No vacuum bleeder, no vice grips on the proportioning valve, and no pipe on the brake pedal.



Just gotta give you load of it...

Yea, I tried all that and only had to gravity bleed the front brakes on my daughter's '98 truck. I have no idea why mine were such a PITA, but it sure is nice to have a decent pedal again.

I even got the play out of my steering and got my steering wheel centered! My truck hasn't been this nice to drive in a long time!! Life is good!

I felt the same way when I got my steering back and the emergency brake back. A lot of work to get them back, but the end result was worth all the effort. Happy for ya!!

Yeah I know the feeling. Like just fixing the rusted parking brake cable on my truck was nice to once have it working again. Or just oiling that creaky door hinge and give the truck a nice wax job makes a world of difference.
