Default 1997 2.6 sled puller

'97 sled puller that ditched the 12v and now has a fully build 6.7 cummins common rail spinning 5100 rpms! A customer of mine decided that he didn't want the 12v in his sled puller anymore. So we got asked to build a 6.7 common rail out of an '08 truck this past winter. Tried to run the 6.7 ecm and fuel injector but it kept hitting a hard limiter for an engine over speed issue. Made the code go away via tuned with Efi Live. But ever with the help of the guys at Efi Live we couldn't get past it. So now it has a '06 5.9 ecm and 03 fuel injector which meet the spray angle of the 6.7 pistons. Now it runs great and has been doing great. Engine has over 20 hooks on it at that rpm and is still kicking.

Hey Josh, I have a real dumb question. I hear a lot about the 2.6 class and also a 3.0 class. What is it that puts the truck in either class?

2.6 vs. 3.0 Is the inlet size of the turbo. 2.6" or 3.0"

Well, that is simple. You are talking inches, right? Is there much of a difference power wise in another four tenths of an inch?

Well after 30+ hooks on the season, 9 pulls on a chassis dyno and all spinning her to 5100rpm's. We decided to pull the engine and disassemble for a winter freshen up. Come to find the rings, pistons(factory 6.7 cummins with modifications) and bearings all looked great. Engine had very little blow by when we chassis dynode at the end of the season.

I was nice that it looked so nice inside after the punishment it went through.

It makes you feel better when things go right! Those look like some heavy duty connecting rods. What needs to be done to the bottom end to get it to spin that fast?

Some block work, good rods, and really good balancing! Than tuning, cam, and enough fuel to get it to go that high under load.
